If You Are In An Accident
- Stay Calm.
- Call for police and/or medical help.
- If possible, move the vehicle to a
safe area, away from traffic.
- Stay at the scene of the accident until
authorities arrive. Never leave the scene of the accident.
Checklist: Scene Of The Accident

Exchange name, address, driver’s license and insurance
information with the driver(s) involved in the accident. |

|
Write down the license plate number of all vehicle(s)
involved. |
|
If possible, take photographs of the scene of the
accident and the other car. |
|
Be cautious when discussing the accident, any
statement you make can be used against you. |
|
Get the name of the police officer taking the report. |
|
Try to get the names, addresses, and telephone numbers
of any and all witnesses to the accident. If possible obtain a
written statement from the witness. |

Immediately notify your insurance representative and
document when notification was made. |
|
|
Do not have your automobile repaired or disposed of
until you are sure that you have obtained good pictures of it.
|
|
|
Contact your doctor and inform him/her about all of your
complaints. The doctor’s records will be used as evidence,
so make sure you inform your doctor of all your pains.
|
|
|
Keep a record of the names and addresses of the doctors,
chiropractors, physical therapists or other medical personnel
who have treated you and the dates of your visits. |
|
|
Keep an accurate record of all days lost from work because of
your injuries.
|
|
|
Seek the advice of an attorney.
|
